Job 38:1-40:2; Matthew 24:32-25:13; Psalm 18:37-42

At last in the story of Job, God has spoken. We have heard a lot from Job and his friends and now it is the turn of God. The Lord speaks words that we can compare to things that we have already heard, but the stuff that he says here takes us to a new level.

It is linked so closely to what we said at the start of the book of Job about the supremacy of God’s kingdom and also some of the things that we looked at in Genesis about creation. But we can read Job on a very different level when we read it personally. Whatever you are going through in life read this passage from Job again and ask yourself – how much does God love me? How interested is God in my life?

He laid the earth’s foundation, he marks where the lightening will come from, counts the clouds, hunts prey for lionesses, knows when the mountain goat gave birth and puts the mane on the horse.

He loves you, and knows you. He will never let you go. All those things that are going on inside you, or stuff that you think goes on unseen. The Lord sees it and knows it and if it hurts you it hurts him. If he knows exactly when a mountain goat gives birth or a young raven cries out for food then he also knows exactly what is going on in your life.

Today we’ve also continued our reading through Psalm 18 and it’s worth going back and revisiting how this psalm began. It starts with a heading that states that David was celebrating the way that God had delivered him from his enemies. That very same God cares enough to deliver us. Whatever is going on for you, just remember these readings and talk to the God who loves you and is bothered about what is happening to you.
