Day 210
1 Chronicles 6:1-81, Romans 11:33-12:21, Psalm 89:30-37
Now that is tough - "I urge you brothers to offer your lives as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God". Giving our lives is a bit of a big ask, but then Christ gave his life for us, so I suppose that fair is fair.
What does Paul suggest that we do, no longer conform to the patterns of this world. This is where we have to live lives that are Gospel lives, showing others the love of Christ in action, because that is what Paul moves on to next - love.
Sometimes in love we need to make sacrifices, because we love God and because we love the people that God has put us amongst. This is one of the passages where Paul speaks about us being part of a body, we are not in this alone, we are part of a church. Sometimes being part of a church means making sacrifices, it is not always done our way, sometimes we are among people that we would not always chose to be amongst, sometimes the worship is not the kind of worship that we might chose. Despite this we are called to be living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, so that this sacrifice may be our "spiritual act of worship". We are a family, a family that loves other members of the group, because God first loved us.
What is God calling you to do in the church, all for his love? Who is he calling you to be alongside, all for his love?
