Day 216

1 Chronicles 16:37-18:17, 1 Corinthians 1:1-17, Proverbs 19:3-12

A bit of a theme continues from yesterday with the Ark of the Covenant – there was a lot of singing going on around it. This made me think about Soul Survivor or New Wine or even worship going on at our own church. Worship that we might enjoy a lot and yet it is sad to say that we probably couldn’t sit through more than a couple of hours of a church service.

Spend a bit of time today thinking about the best worship that you have ever experienced, then think about that lasting for a much longer time. Imagine that kind of extended all-encompassing worship in the presence of God. Worship that flows from every part you, that absorbs your whole being, and keeps on going.  Mind blowing!

The other part of our theme that continues jumps from Chronicles to Corinthians. We looked yesterday at being consecrated before God and here Paul gives thanks because the church in Corinth is sanctified before God. When we are truly a church in God’s presence then people can see there is something different about us.

One of the bigger things to note though is the bit about divisions. Paul often writes to these churches because there was a problem and with the Corinthians he gets straight to the point. They have been divided because some are holding one leader above another, when Paul says that we need to focus on Christ. It is a timely reminder that we need to keep our eyes on God rather than on men. Focusing on Christ always helps us to see the world in a better light.

On the whole we have seen these themes before, two of them yesterday, but they help us to grow closer to Christ as we know him more and more.
