Day 269
Isaiah 63:1-65:16, Ephesians 4:17-5:7, Psalm 112:1-10
Sometime we miss the little bits tucked away in the epistles that help us with day to day life. There are the classic passages that give us the rules of life – the 10 commandments, the comments that Jesus made about right living, and then there are the not so obvious ones.
Put of falsehood
Speak the truth
No unwholesome talk
Don’t steal
No sexual immorality
What sums it up though, live as Children of the light. This is not about living in the light, we are children of the light. It goes with the heirs with Christ thing. There are a good number of my dad’s characteristics that I would love to imitate, his love, compassion, devotion and much more. Paul talks of imitating God, our father. To be imitators of the light, children of the light.
Now imitating God is impossible, somebody so amazing, so great and in all honesty I can probably never imitate my dad, but we can at least try, and in trying we do honour to the greatest father we can ever know.
We are children of the light, let’s try and keep up the family reputation.
