Day 273

Jeremiah 1:1-2:30, Philippians 1:27-2:11, Psalm 115:1-11

We saw it when we were taking a whistle stop tour through Kings and now we see it again, young people can be extremely wise and more importantly they are used by God. In fact when God uses them, they can actually teach old people a thing or two.

“Ah sovereign Lord, I do not know how to speak for I am only a child”

He clearly wasn’t listening to what Good said earlier. Because God formed him in the womb and knew him, before he was even born. He may only be a child but God knows he can do this and indeed God made him to do this.

God formed you to do something and He knows that you can do it. Listen carefully to what that might be for He will tell you when the time is right.

The Philippians reading also contained a very significant passage that we can’t ignore. The hymn at 2:6-11 is a wonderful look at the mystery of Christ, the fact that he is God and he was also man, and more importantly the cross. One of the commentaries I read put it in a great way:

“The present passage uniquely unfolds the cross as seen through the eyes of the Crucified, and allows us to enter into the mind of Christ. We tread therefore on very holy ground indeed” *

You can tell the story of the cross easily but this is a poetic entry into what Christ actually did not just on the cross but in his incarnation as the Son of God. The son of the same God who formed you in the womb and knows you.

Know that you are His.
