Day 279

Jeremiah 11:18-13:27, Colossians 2:6-23, Psalm 118:1-16

You can't beat a good bit of Doctor Who.

One verse jumped out and led me to this image. That "in Christ the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form". I just had the image of the full glory of God trying to cram itself in to a small human body, a bit like the picture opposite. It shows the love of God though, that he would give all of that up to cramp his own style by taking on the form of a human, compacting all of his glory in.

Then there is the idea of circumcision (nothing to do with the picture). Paul suggests that in Christ all believers were circumcised but we move away from the literal circumcision of the Jewish custom to a metaphorical one. Circumcision was a right of passage into a community of faith, and Paul is talking that for us that happens in Christ rather than us actually having to do the real thing. That physical pain may be spared, but we are stilled called to make sacrifices for the one who gave up everything for us.

And again, a link with the day before, his love endures forever! Repeated again and again today because it is such an important context. Feel that love today, the love of the one who took on human flesh all for our sake.
