Day 300
Habakkuk 1:1-3:19, Titus 2:1-15, Proverbs 26:3-12
You can tell why they are called the minor prophets, we’ve finished this one in a day. Quite a bit shorter than Isaiah and Jeremiah, but still packed with revelations of God.
I did wonder whether that first complaint could have been spoken by Habakkuk today, violence, strife, conflict and injustice seem to surround us and many people ask where God is. And yet the answer is the same, he is there, he can see, he isn’t ignoring it and he will do something about it. Wait and watch is basically the message for Habakkuk and we know that Christ will come again. He will come again to reign in glory, the time is not ours to say, it is in his timing but we can be sure that the Lord is not ignoring all that is going on, just as he didn’t back then.
And Habakkuk also points to one of my favourite subjects - the glory of the Lord. When contrasted against injustice and strife, the glory of God can seem quite stark, quite at odds with what is going on in the world and yet it is when the just God comes in all his glory to judge the living and the dead once more, we will see an end to all injustice, pain and suffering.
Pray for the coming of the Lord today. You never know what might happen!
