Day 319
Ezekiel 28:1-29:21, Hebrews 12:14-29, Psalm 126:1-6
Mission Impossible, Mission Impossible 2 and Mission Impossible 3 all rolled into one. “See to it that no one misses the grace of God”. That is a pretty tall order.
I have a good number of failings and a lot of them come out when I am driving. If someone cuts me up, or drives inconsiderately, or is right up my bumper, or drives like an absolute Muppet or … then I turn into the incredible hulk, I am definitely not full of grace, or peace or love. The car and driving brings the worst out in me. But Paul urges us to make sure that no one misses the grace of God, this effectively tells us that all of the time we need to make sure that people see the grace of God in us. Something that I do not do so well at times.
When we smile in the face of adversity, when forgive, when we love, when we care and show compassion then we do our best to ensure that, for our part, no one is missing the grace of God. We cannot ensure this for the whole world but we can do our own part to ensure that it is true of us.
It is probably important to add a small caveat here, we will fail! We are not perfect, but we can try, and try our best. Trying to ensure that the grace of God shines our from us so that people will not miss it.
