Day 320

Ezekiel 30:1-31:18, Hebrews 13:1-25, Proverbs 27:23-28:6

There is a very important saying within the letter to the Hebrews today:

“Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever”

Christ who came to the cross yesterday (or a few yesterday’s ago) is the very same Christ as the Christ of today. He would go to the cross again for you and I if he had to. I had the joy of preaching from John 1 in church today, “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God”. It tells us that Christ is part of the triune God, Father, Son and Spirit, and that is no different today compared to the very start of creation that John was talking about in that passage – the unchanging God.

That also means that there is nothing we can do that will make him love us less. He was love when he died on the cross, he is love today and he will always be the epitome of love. He loves you and he loves me.

The Christ of the Gospels is the Christ of today, who heals and performs miracles, who has compassion and turns over tables. That is the Christ we are in relationship with today, and will be tomorrow and until the day we die. Let us rejoice in it.
