Day 325

Ezekiel 40:1-49, James 5:1-20, Psalm 130:1-8

There have been times over the last 325 days when I have been surprised by how God has spoken to me even in the driest of passages. Today I was starting to switch off in Ezekiel’s vision of the temple and was waiting for James to speak to me.

Half way through though, as I was thinking how repetitive it was it dawned on me that this was the renewing of the temple, the dwelling of God. How it was being made great once again. If we are the new temple then there are times when we too need to be renewed. There are times, even after we have made a commitment to God, that we mess up and need to sort ourselves out with God. James even speaks of helping brothers who have sinned.

The power to do it though also comes in what James says, it comes in prayer. We need to bring ourselves and we might need to bring others to God in prayer, to renew our covenant and make ourselves great again like the original temple.

Even if we are good with God, prayer is still vital, so come to God in prayer today, for yourself or for someone else.
