Day 326

Ezekiel 41:1-42:20, 1 Peter 1:1-2:3, Psalm 131:1-3

Apparently we don’t negotiate with terrorists, not that I have ever had to personally. I was quite surprised to find on the news a but back that we do pay off pirates when they hijack ships. Usually in many millions of pounds dropped from a helicopter onto the deck of the ship.

It was this that sprang to mind when Peter started talking of being redeemed by silver and gold, the price that is paid for a kidnap or hijacking victim, the ransom money, the money that ensures the victim is redeemed. In the eternal sense that goes far beyond money, it is the blood of the lamb, Christ Jesus.

That God would shed his blood for us in Christ is amazing enough as it is, he loves us more than life, for he went to death for me and you, that is the price paid for us. I don’t know about you but I find that quite amazing.

I am bought by the blood of Christ, I am free because of him!
