Day 333

Daniel 4:19-5:16, 2 Peter 3:1-18, Psalm 135:13-21

Could you imagine how different the world might be if some of the world leaders (political, business, sport and many other realms) had a faith that they lived out in all they did.

Take Nebuchadnezzar, late on in his rule he lifted his eyes to the Lord. Imagine what it would have been like if very early in his reign he had been converted to the ways of the Lord, imagine the people whose lives would have been changed so much by the love and mercy of a godly man like David or Solomon. The vast reign of Nebuchadnezzar means that his faith would have reached huge numbers of people. If only ….

But then it’s not just the big names who need to step up to the mark, it’s all of us. There is the theory of ‘the six degrees of separation’ which means that you know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone … (6 people in all) … who knows the prime minister or the president of the United States. Just imagine you lived out your life in such a faith filled way that the person you know committed their life to Christ, and they lived in such a way that the next person … and so and so on … until all of our world leaders realised that the way of Christ was the way that we should rule the world. And you thought you couldn’t change the world.

But even if your chain doesn’t make it all the way to Robert Mugabe or Barak Obama, the fact that your life might lead one person to the Lord is a good enough reason to start today. The day of the Lord is coming “so make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
