Day 338
Daniel 11:2-35, 1 John 4:7-21, Psalm 138:1-8
Sometime we miss the point by looking too hard for it. Each day as I have been reading I have been looking for the point of the passage so that I can then write about it. Today John gives us the command to love one another and I thought to myself “I have already written something about that, and a few days ago too” so I looked for something else to say.
In doing so I completely missed the point, this concept of loving one another and indeed the whole concept of love, they are in the Bible so much and so often because that is the whole point. “God is love” (v16). Trying to find a different point made me miss the whole point of the Bible – to talk about the God who is love.
We looked at putting on love above all things, we have talked about the love that endures forever in the Psalms and now we are reminded of the commandment of Christ, to love our neighbour as ourselves. I feel as though I have talked about this a lot, but if the Bible talks about it a lot then we should too, all of us.
Simple really – love your neighbour – it’s the whole point of the Bible so let’s go and do it.
