Day 341

Zechariah 1:1-4:14, 3John 1-14, Psalm 139:11-16

Know the light, be changed by the light, be the light!

Know – Psalm 139 continues in the same vain as we left it two days ago, speaking to us of the God who is there for us through all things and in all places, even in the darkest depths. Here, reminiscent of John 1, we are reminded that the darkness cannot put out the light, the glory of God will shine in all places, even in our darkest moments.

Be changed – we are all called to be servants of God, we are called to a priesthood of all believers. The removal of sin seen here with Joshua is not reserved for the priest. Through Christ, through the light of the world, our sin is removed and we are clothed in righteousness. When we know the light we can be changed by the light, washed in the blood of the lamb.

Be – John is great for very short letters, but he is also good for something else, encouragement. One of the speakers at New Wine recently spoke of the importance of dropping an encouraging note to Christians in different roles and jobs to encourage and build them up. This is just what John is doing, it probably took him 10-15 minutes to write a book of he Bible! What an example, how long would it take you to write a note to a fellow believer, letting them know how important their faith is. You can be the light to someone else.

Know the light, be changed by the light, be the light!
