Day 351
Ezra 1:1-2:67, Revelation 8:1-9:12, Psalm 144:9-15
We are in the midst of some of the meaty stuff in Revelation, the stuff that is really hard to read, and there are still two more woes to come – great. But it goes back to what we said yesterday about the 144,000, it is a vision.
There are parts of Revelation that some of the greatest biblical scholars struggle to explain and so there is not much chance for me to be able to make it any clearer. God on the other hand does provide the answer, as a vision it can be interpreted with visions. Sometimes the best way to come to Revelation is not with commentaries and text books but in prayer. In every bit of scripture we should ask God to open it up for us, to open his word in order that we may understand.
This is as true of Revelation as it is of the rest of the Bible. When we find it hard to understand and even when we think we know what is going on, we should pause and pray, listen to God, what he is saying and what he is showing us. Then we may have a better chance of understanding.
So as you go through the rest of Revelation, approach it in prayer and see what God is saying.
