Day 355
Ezra 7:11-8:14, Revelation 13:1-18, Psalm 145:13-21
Revelation is the part of the Bible which gives us the most material about the devil. It is not the only place where he appears, and yet it does provide most of the information, like the number 666. Much of the history and thinking on this subject comes from here.
Despite that we need to hold it in a great deal of context. This is one of the few places where it sits and we must therefore remember that the rest of the Bible paints a very different picture. I have been looking forward to the last few psalms for some time, primarily because they cover one of my favourite subjects – praise.
The bulk of the last lot of psalms is all about praise and when we think about it, praise of God is something that is a recurring theme throughout the Bible. In fact praise of God is something that appears a lot more than the Devil, and that is before we touch on stuff like love, justice and mercy.
So despite the fact that the devil is very real and very active, worry more about your praise of God and God will worry about the Devil.
