Day 357

Ezra 10:1-44, Revelation 14:14-15:8, Psalm 146:1-10

Sometimes people just let you down, it is inherently normal in human nature. In fact we have probably all let someone else down at some point. The psalmist seems to understand this and warns against putting trust in mortal men, we all know where it may lead.

Ezra too had an idea about this. He put his trust so much in God that the opening line of this passage is all about Ezra’s devotion to God – praying, confessing wailing and throwing himself down. When was the last time your prayers involved a good bit of confession, wailing and a bit of throwing yourself on the floor. That is a devoted prayer life.

For the psalmist that devotion also involved a good bit of praise, well actually quite a lot of praise. And then he goes on to remind the reader exactly why they should be praising God – loving the righteous, watching the alien and much more.

Why should you be praising God at the moment, what would your list include? Be devoted in prayer today and offer it all up to God.
