Challenged

Having just watched one of the Nooma DVDs, Breathe, I feel rather challenged. Well in all honesty I have been feeling challenged about my lack of blog entries for some time, not a good Lent really.

In the DVD Rob Bell speaks of the story of Moses and the burning bush, and raises the idea that the ground has not just become holy but that Moses suddenly stops to notice it, ground that he has passed numerous times in his life as a shepherd in this land, but he now notices that it is holy. The challenge that proceeded was whether we are often on holy ground but that we so often miss it.

I think the biggest challenge for me was that Lent is an ideal time for us to stop and take note of the ground on which we stand, yet I have missed a number of those opportunities. Moses worked this land for 40 years and only just saw the holiness, I wonder how much I have raced around during the 40 days of Lent and completely missed the holiness that is around me.

As I write this I am on a train to London to get lost in a day of business. When that business is God's business it is important for us not to lose sight of the holiness, important for me not to lose the focus that I will be on holy ground.

Perhaps today is a day for noticing the Holy all around us, and more importantly reengaging with it.
