Day 260

Isaiah 41:1-42:25, Galatians 3:10-25, Proverbs 22:28-23:9

I’m conscious that I have ignored Proverbs quite a bit during our reading but we should not let them go by the wayside. They were a part of the scriptures that Jesus read and we can see some of them come out in His teaching. Take what he said about riches here on earth rusting away and that in fact we should worry more about heavenly riches. Then in Proverbs we read “do not wear yourself out to get rich”! Uncanny the link isn’t it?

Paul on the other hand is still talking about the faith v.s law issue and simply backing up his arguments from yesterday. When we put yesterday’s reading and today’s reading we actually see that the law is bracketed by faith. Yesterday Paul said that it started with faith and the Holy Spirit and today he says that “now faith has come we are no longer under the law”. Faith comes before the law and now it also comes at the end. Like God it is there at the beginning and the end.

As we journey on, take an extra look at Proverbs but above all hold on to your faith and allow it to come before all things, above all things, and throughout all things in your life.
