Jeremiah 23:9-25:14, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-18, Proverbs 24:23-34
Today gives us one of my favourite subjects but also one of the things that I am most often challenged about in my own life. The day of the Lord's coming. Are we ready for it, on the one hand I eagerly await it, on the other hand I know I am not ready.
At the moment this subject is fresh in my mind with the thought of the pastor in America who prophesied that the end was immediately nigh, then it didn't happen. It kind of links quite closely with the stuff from Jeremiah about false prophets. We must test and challenge prophesies to ensure that they are of God.
But in terms of the coming, it is not the how that is important, it is the when, and the fact that we have to be ready for it to come like a thief in the night.
So are we ready, are we looking forward to a life with Christ in eternal glory. I'd certainly like to say yes, but...
